Camberley Carnival 2018

Saturday 23rd June

Join us for the parade which will leave the Borough Council offices on Knoll Road at 12 noon on a route that includes the High Street and Pembroke Broadway before concluding at London Road Recreation Ground (behind The Arena) where there will be an afternoon of free fantastic  entertainment including live music, bar, Indian Circus, workshops, plenty of stalls, retro computer games, bouncy castle and tons of fun for the whole family!

The Bodega Bar will be serving drinks all afternoon! A lovingly converted horsebox to create a stylish and lively bar.

There will also be plenty of other stalls including face painting, baby yoga, ice-cream, pop corn and the fabulous Cookie Bar bus!

The Indian Circus will be performing several times during the afternoon.

The brilliant Jess Morgan will be one of the fantastic artists performing in the acoustic tent….

We are also delighted to welcome back the retro computer tent – filled to the brim with retro computers for young (and not so young!) to enjoy.

The Big Art tent will also be back this year. A  place for kids to be creative and enjoy the Animal Kingdom theme of the carnival this summer.

There will also be a make and take session at Camberley Theatre with The Big Art, before the parade from 10:30am. This will give you a chance to make hats and hand held puppets of tigers, giraffes, birds and crocodiles to wave as the parade passes through town from noon.

For younger children we have ‘To The Moon’.

Especially created for very young audiences, To the Moon uses a free-standing aerial rig allowing it to be performed in the most unlikely of spaces!

Created for children aged 2-5

All this, plus bouncy castle and displays from local gymnastic clubs plus loads more being added. Watch this space and put Saturday 23rd June in your diaries!!

It’s not too late to be part of the parade –

Would you like to be involved in this year’s Camberley Carnival? It’s on Saturday 23rd June.

I was delighted to see the short procession today, having seen the poster on the kiosk near Barclays and then noticed the road closed signs. However, I am not on Facebook, Twitter or any form of social media, do not buy the Camberley News & Mail and for some months have not had the StarCourier delivered. Talking to friends we realised that we had not known about the carnival or procession. Next time please put a banner over the High Street. Fliers were handed out this morning (as we watched it) telling us of the procession at 12 noon. This is far too late. It would have been good if they had been on shop windows or even delivered in the past week so that we might have read them before putting them in the bin.
What is needed is Publicity. Please think of the large section of populace who do not use social media, smartphones or even computers and do not buy the News & Mail (too expensive) or receive the courier (in which the items are mainly about Hampshire, anyway). We would support events if only we knew about them.
