A Chance To Be Involved – Script Reading and Drama at Camberley Theatre

Saturday 23rd June at 7:30pm in the upstairs studio.

On the last day of the C.I.F., we have script reading and drama in the upstairs studio at Camberley Theatre which is free to attend.

In fact, we are actually looking for people to help us – local playwright Liz Lennie invites you to script read in small groups (a part for anyone who wants one) before staging a repeat performance by volunteers as if on the radio.

Liz Lennie

‘Tinkler!’ A spirited elderly mother is faced with leaving home for ‘a home’. Disparate daughters disagree and a grandchild gets an unusual inheritance….

The play itself lasts approx. 20 minutes and this script reading event will last about an hour.

Please e mail jo.bartlett@surreyheath.gov.uk if you are interested in taking part.

There will be an interval in which the downstairs bar will be open, followed by:

Brightlight Theatre Company present The Fire Stack, a new play by award-winning local playwright Jamie Lakritz. A barman, a man drinking away his sorrows and a woman on a blind date are in a bar… But that’s where the joke stops. An explosive drama about secrets and lies and who we become when consumed by guilt. Nominated for Best New Play at Woking Drama Festival 2017. Running time 50 minutes.

So nearly there now….

Thanks very much to Skylephant and Kodiak Island for their fantastic performances at The Bear last night. Thanks to all those who braved a very hot, sticky night to watch!

Here’s a clip of Kodiak Island in action….

Last night also saw a healthy turn out at the drama over at Camberley Theatre – thanks so much to Liz Lennie and Brightlight Theatre for all their hard work. Liz Lennie’s play ‘Not In Our Town’ had a fabulous debut read through performance, while Brightlight performed some of their pieces from this year, including their inturpritation of  ‘The Wind in the Willows’

So….the last day is tomorrow where we can all enjoy a picnic at the London Road Rec in Camberley. Thanks very much indeed to everyone who has performed or watched or even just read these posts over the last few weeks! There will be more round up news next week plus the dates for 2017. Have a great weekend and hopefully see you at the picnic! 🙂

Drama graphic final

On Thursday June 9th in Studio 1 at Camberley Theatre, there will be two chances to join in with some drama, or if you prefer, simply come and watch.

Liz Lennie

From 7:30 – 8:45pm local playwright Liz Lennie will be performing ‘Not In Our Town’.  This is the world premier of Liz’s latest play, a comedy written for radio.

A debate on terrorism in a Surrey town, not unlike Camberley, culminates in  some surprising multi-cultural bonds.

Scripts will be handed out on the night and small but significant parts will be available.

Anyone willing to give it a go can e mail Jo.Bartlett@surreyheath.gov.uk in advance or simply make themselves available on the June 9th.

After this, Frimley’s Brightlight Theatre will be presenting scenes and sketches from their recent performances from 9 – 11pm – again with a chance to join in.
